Senior Measurement & Verification Analyst
ABOUT PARITY:
Buildings in our beautiful cities, where we live and work, are producing 40% of the CO2 going into our atmosphere and contributing to climate change. We need to HEAT, VENTILATE, and AIR CONDITION our buildings 24/7. Most of the energy consumed in a building is for our comfort, but 50% of it is wasted! This is because buildings have little to no technology to control this.
Parity is a Remote HVAC Optimization as a Service company. We remotely control and optimize HVAC systems 24/7/365 to deliver automatic energy savings and revenue to multifamily residential buildings and hotels. Using advanced algorithms, Parity can predict the amount of energy needed ahead of time to operate a building to meet its occupants' demands and adapt the building's systems and machinery in real time. We save our customers:
- Time - we automate setpoint adjustments and demand response protocols. Our Pi (Parity Insights) dashboard provides early alerting services when things go down.
- Money - Parity contractually guarantees the savings that we expect to deliver to our multifamily customers. We also provide quarterly and annual energy savings reports.
- CO2 Emissions - we reduce a building’s emissions by optimizing its HVAC systems and reducing energy waste.
Our Measurement & Verification (M&V) team is the engine that proves our guaranteed savings commitments are real — combining IPMVP-compliant methodology, utility data analysis, and a modern cloud-based reporting environment to deliver accurate, defensible savings reporting across a growing portfolio of buildings.
THE ROLE:
This is a senior individual contributor role on a collaborative, cross-functional M&V team - and a position that will help us scale. The workload is growing and we’re looking for someone who can help us build smarter systems and processes to handle it. You will own a meaningful share of end-to-end energy savings report delivery while also contributing to how this team evolves — including piloting and embedding agentic AI tools, workflow automation, and scalable processes that reduce manual effort without sacrificing accuracy. The work is detail-heavy and consequential: what this team produces directly determines whether Parity keeps its promises to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting & Analysis Execution
- Own the creation of monthly, quarterly, and annual energy savings reports across Parity's building portfolio.
- Review and validate all utility data inputs used in reporting to ensure accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
- Apply weather normalization and Option C methodologies to analyze performance data and determine verified savings.
- Validate metered data integrity and apply appropriate baseline adjustments in accordance with Option B guidelines.
- Perform quality control checks on all reports prior to delivery to clients, ensuring outputs are accurate, clear, and compliant with IPMVP and internal standards.
Scaling & Automation
- Identify and implement opportunities to use agentic AI tools (e.g., LLM-based workflows, AI coding assistants, automated QA pipelines) to increase reporting throughput and reduce repetitive manual effort.
- Contribute to the design and evolution of internal reporting templates, calculation methods, and scalable data workflows — including automation of routine checks, data pulls, and narrative generation.
- Surface upstream data quality issues and work with the Product team to resolve them at the source, rather than absorbing them manually at the reporting stage.
- Coordinate with the Utility Data Analyst to ensure timely receipt, validation, and completeness of utility billing inputs.
Process Ownership & Improvement
- Bring a systems thinker's perspective to how this team operates: document what we do, identify what can be automated, and build toward a more resilient and scalable reporting function.
- Contribute M&V domain requirements to Product team initiatives, ensuring reporting needs are reflected in how data is structured and governed within the platform.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support
- Act as a key liaison between the reporting function and customer-facing teams (Customer Success, Support, and Service Delivery) for questions related to report methodology, data interpretation, and utility discrepancies.
- Support onboarding of new customers by aligning reporting baselines, confirming utility data sources, and helping structure initial savings reports.
- Assist with custom report requests or escalations from senior stakeholders when needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 4–7 years of experience in energy reporting, M&V analysis, or building energy performance — direct IPMVP-compliant reporting experience strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of IPMVP Option C methodology; familiarity with RETScreen and weather normalization practices.
- Proficient in SQL and experienced working with cloud-based BI and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar); familiarity with data warehouse environments is a strong asset. Spreadsheet proficiency assumed.
- Experience working with utility data from providers such as Enbridge, ConEd, or others across North America.
- Demonstrated interest in or hands-on experience using AI-assisted tools to improve personal or team productivity — including agentic workflows, LLM-based automation, or AI coding assistants. You don't need to have a title that says "AI" — we want someone who has leaned into these tools and can help us do the same.
- Proven attention to detail and ability to manage large datasets without error.
- Strong written communication skills, particularly in translating data insights into client-facing summaries.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams.
- A post-secondary degree in Engineering, Building Sciences, or related field preferred.
- CMVP designation or active pursuit is a strong asset.
Nice to Have:
- Hands-on experience with Python or scripting for data automation.
- Familiarity with SaaS reporting workflows and version-controlled templates.
- Experience working in a startup or scale-up environment.
- Experience in a contractual guaranteed savings or performance contracting environment.
- Experience building or productizing internal AI-assisted workflows (prompt engineering, tool orchestration, output validation pipelines).
